Edward James Sculpture Garden, Las Pozas

The Edward James Surrealist Garden, also known as Las Pozas, is a captivating and surreal masterpiece nestled in the ungles of Xilitla,San Luis Potosí,Mexico. This enchanting garden was not created by a professional artist but by an eccentric British poet and aristocrat named Edward James. He began building this surrealistic paradise in 1949 and continued until the mid-1980s, The construction of the concrete structures and buildings stopped in 1984 with the death of James and it was not until 1991 that the garden opened to the public to be visited.

A magic space for everybody

The different constructions were made by local craftsmen, carpenters and artists of the region.

This space houses more than 30 sculptures with giant flower columns, gothic arches, dramatic doors and spiral staircases that end in the air. In addition, the garden features grand corridors, some leading to pools and others like a labyrinth.
