• In Moneyless World, Ms. Schewermer states, "People are too involved with the material world — money, possessions…” she says. “They spend tons of time and energy on it. And they aren’t aware of how little money actually provides for them! I wanted to prove that another lifestyle is possible.” Do you agree with this statement, why or why not. If writing, make sure your response is in 12-point font and is double-spaced.
• Create a poem based on the speakers experience living without money. 10-12 lines long.
• Write a one-paragraph argument convincing your family to take on this experiment. Cite support from her speech.

• Create a photo journal documenting the journey of immigrants in the United States.
• Write 5 -10 sentences answering the following question, "The speaker identifies as an "all-American girl." What do you think of when you hear that phrase? What do you think other people might think of? What message do you think the poet was trying to send by writing a poem about a Latin American immigrant girl who identifies as "all-American"?"
• Write an original poem about a time you experienced or witnessed feeling left out.

To Take a Snip

• Be sure the section you want to capture an image of is on your screen. Press these three keys at the same time:
• The windows key
• The shift key
• The letter "S" key
• The screen should turn a shade of light grey, and you should get a cursor that looks like a "+" sign.
• Drag the cursor across the section you want to capture.
• That should automatically put it on your computer's "clipboard."
• Put your cursor where you want that image to go, and then paste the image by pressing the control key and the letter "V" key at the same time.

• Answer this prompt. "Paragraph 19 states, "The story of the 20th century is one of the American Dream gradually being extended to more of the population." How did more people get access to the American Dream during the 20th century? Think of as many examples as you can." If written, your response should be double-spaced, in 12-point font, and should be between five and ten sentences long.
• Create an original piece of artwork to reflect the information found in the article.
