Farm Profile

Soil: Loam/silt, gravel, some clay 520 acres total 15 acres vegetables garden 120 acres of hay 40 acres of pasture in stewardship side 38 of pasture in triform side The farm doesn’t produce any crops Permanent pasture All grains are purchased for pig feed and dairy feed. 20 acres of hay field is manured per year and it comes over winter bedded peck.

Manured pails are prepared with biodynamics preparation. Hay fields and pastures receive biodynamic preparation during spring (500), during summer (501) and during fall (500 again). A lot of our sprays are done during festivals, hand spraying as well as tractor. Fields are being frost seeded with red clover and the farm is aiming to reseed pasture and hay fields where needed no-till drill. We have tamworth pigs. 1 boar, 3 sows. They spent overwinter in the barn, spring to fall pig herd rotational grazes pasture and the farm aims for 2 to 4 litters per year.

12 cows who bist annually, they’re off-spring, spend that year at triform farm, the following spring weaned calves move to stewardship farm to mature and finish.Besides winter, all cattle are on pasture permanently, they receive free choice minerals and redman salt. Cows (10 moms) receive a selenium shot annually as a prevention. 3 full horses graze 5 acres in spring and after mid summer 10 acres. The farm implements managed grazing therefore herd density changes according to grass growth rate.

Garden Profile

Cropping sequence - 6 fields (from last year) 1st Field- (low demand): Potatoes, Garlic 2nd Field- (low demand): Brassicas, Kale, Brussels sprouts, Broccoli 3rd Field- (low demand): Fruits, Peppers, Cucumber, Squash 4th Field- (low demand): Beans, Spring onions 5th Field- (High demand): Herbs, Infestation Thistle now soil can not be used 6th Field- (low demand): Fruits, Squash, Pumpkin, Flowers Small Green House: Seeds, Baby plants Big Green House: 36 beds - rotation of the plants to not overuse the soil.
