THE HISTORY OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE

The history of the discrimination of this category is pretty recent, in fact, it only started when monotheistic religions started to spread all around the world, because for this type of religion, the things they belive in are the truth and every other religion tells lies. And so because of it, they are the only religion that can be widespread.

religious fanaticism and religious intolerance refer to related but different behaviors that demonstrate prejudice and negativity towards a religion or belief

Religious fanaticism is excessive enthusiasm or extreme devotion to a particular religion or doctrine. In some cases, bigotry can lead to extremist or violent behaviour

religious intolerance, concerns the lack of respect for the religious beliefs of others. This intolerance can manifest itself in various ways, like discrimination and prejudice

What are the theories response movements are based on?

THEORIES

Religious discrimination can take many forms, such as: - the refusal to treat people equally because of their religion; - creating hostile work environments based on religion; - the adoption of policies that negatively affect specific religious communities

In 26 countries around the world, religious freedom is suffocated by persecution. This is stated in the 2021 Report on Religious Freedom in the World, published by the Church. In particular, it is highlighted that in one nation in three there are serious violations of religious freedom. According to the study, presented in large cities around the world, this fundamental right was not respected in 62 of 196 sovereign countries in the two-year period 2018-2020.

The expression of one's faith should not be accompanied by acts of violence anywhere in the world. Intolerance towards different religions or faiths continues to cause conflicts, violating human rights. The EU pays tribute to all victims.

HOW CAN WE DECREASE RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION?

In the wolrd there are so many religions and many of them are just very different. But this doesn't permit us to discriminate and treat people in different ways because of what they belive in. Everyone should have the right everywhere in the wold to pofess their own religion and what they belive. But this doesn't mean we have to obligate someone to profess and belive in the same religion as us. In conclusion the phenomenon of religious discrimination is still a problem nowdays and we need to include people even if they have different traits than us.
