Differences between Medieval and Actual Corts
Castillian Courts
Cadiz Courts
The medieval ones were estates. Each class voted as a bloc. City representatives had to follow the instructions of their constituents. Now the Cortes Generales represent the Spanish people and are made up of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate.
In Castile the Courts did not have any power except in times of instability when they achieved some pockets of power thanks to the support they gave to the monarchy in its policies.
