I picked piggy for my mask project. And I drew glasses and a pig snout to resemble him. And I have a boulder and a snout because when the boulder fell on his face a lot of blood came out of his head. One piece of evidence that gives us an explanation on the boulder dropping on his head is, “The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exist. Piggy, saying nothing, with no time for even a grunt, traveled through the air sideways from the rock, turning over as he went. The rock bounded twice and was lost in the forest. Piggy fell forty feet and landed on his back across the square red rock in the sea.” (141)

This island on the chin shows how they are stuck on the island. And they are trapped there and they think there probably not gonna be rescued. One piece of evidence that shows how they think they are stuck on the island is, “Here the beach was interrupted abruptly by the square motif of the landscape; a great platform of pink granite thrust up uncompromisingly through forest and terrace and sand and lagoon to make a raised jetty four feet high.”(12) This piece of evidence explains that they are on an island because they are at the edge of the beach and there is sand surrounding them.

The fire on the eye is a signal/flare for the smoke to show to any near by boats tha we are in need of assistance. In the book Ralph tryes to keep the smoke up so they can get rescued but jack does not want that and he starts a fire so he can have a feast, chant, and have fun. Though jacks fire is what saves them in the day and a naval officer sees the smoke and goes to the island to see if anybody needs help. One piece of evidence from the text that cites how he came to the island to rescue the boys is, “ The officer grinned cheerfully at Ralph. We saw your smoke. What have you been doing? Having a war or something? Ralph nodded.”(201) This evidence shows that at the end Ralph was right and the smoke would save us at the end of the day.

The conch in the lord of the flies represented order and balance. Piggy was the original foudner of the conch and suggested Ralph blew it so he could call everybody so we could find them. Piggy didn’t blow the conch because of his asma. Paragraph from the text that shows how Piggy and Ralph find the conch are, “Suddenly Piggy was a-bubble with decorous excitement. S’right. It’s a shell! I seen one like that before. One someone’s back wall. A conch he called it. He used to blow it and then his mum would come. It’s ever so valuable.”(15) This page shows how piggy found the conch and told Ralph all the knowledge he mows about the conch and later on in the story the conch plays a major role resembling order.

One song connection that is linked to lord of the flies is Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses. The song talks about going crazy and being in the jungle, which in lord of the flies they were technically in a jungle and the song talks about having fun and doing whatever you want which is exactly what jacks tribe does in lord of the flies.
