Lobres's City
The first settlements of Salobreña were found in Lobres. During the Neolithic, semi-nomadic shepherds frequented the area, leaving remains of their culture in the Cueva del Capitán in the Lobres neighborhood. With the penetration of the “Argar Culture” (2,000-1,200 BC) and the Late and Final Bronze Age (1,200-600 BC) the occupation of Salobreña and its land intensified. The settlements manifested a complex spatial organization, controlling the territory and access routes. They also had a well-founded agricultural and livestock economic base. In Salobreña, several sites are known that correspond to newly founded settlements. Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Christians have witnessed the agricultural use of Lobres and the configuration of its population center. Its people are industrious and faithful to their garden and tropical crops. We recommend walking along its rural roads and discovering its quiet and bright streets and streets. Its festivals are popular in the region. Among them we highlight the Candelaria festivities, in February and the festivities of San Antonio, patron saint of Lobres, in the month of June.
