Torso twisting and sideways bending Observe the worker's torso as the load is lifted. If there is little or no torso twisting the risk is low. If the torso both twists AND bends to the side as the load is lifted, the risk of getting injured is high.

Grip on the load Look at the quality of the grip that the worker can use to get hold of and control the load. The worker should have a secure, firm grip on the load before lifting it or moving it so that it does not slip.
