Introduction

Mountain climate

Mountains can make the weather or climate of an area different. for example, they can affect the temperature and moisture. The areas of mountain climate usually have colder winters and milder summers. There is no single, clearly defined mountain climate, as great variety is introduced by differences in latitude, elevation, and exposure to the sun.

Polar climate

The polar climate regions are characterized by a lack of warm summers but with varying winters. Every month a polar climate has an average temperature of less than 0 °C (32 °F). It is an extreme climate and one of the most uninhabited in the world. Precipitation is very scarce in this climate.

Population

Inuit

The Inuit, indigenous people inhabiting the Arctic regions of North America, have a rich cultural heritage deeply intertwined with their harsh environment. They have developed unique surviving skills, such as igloo constuction and seal hunting, to thrive in the extreme cold. Their traditional lifestyle emphasizes communal cooperating and respect for nature, with storytelling and throat singing playing integral roles in passing down their oral traditions. Despite facing modern challenges, inculding climate change and cultural assimilation, the Inuit continue to preserve their identity and traditions, as resiling guardians of the Arctics cultural and environmental heritage. There are 155, 792 Inuits.

People have used or lived in the mountains for thousands of years, first as hunter-gatherers and later as farmers and pastoralists. The isolated communities are often culturally and linguistically diverse. Today about 720 million people, or 12% of the world's population, live in mountain regions, many of them economically and politically marginalized. The mountain residents have adapted to the conditions, but in the developing world they often suffer from food insecurity and poor health. They depend on crops, livestock and forest products, and tend to be poor. In the developed world the mountain people are generally prosperous, and the mountains may be used for tourism and outdoor recreation.

Vegetation

Vegetation

Polar climate

Polar regions are extremely cold. therefore the growth of natural vegetation is very limited here. Only mosses, lichens and very small shrubs are found here. They grow during the very short summer. This is called Tundra type of vegetation.

Vegetation

Mountain climate

Aquí puedes poner un títul destacado

Plants occupy a wide variety of habitats in mountain parks, including high alpine areas, rocky ledges, wet meadows, plateaus, steep slopes, lakes, and streams. The variety of elevations and terrain in mountains can result in high plant species diversity. Plants provide structure (such as locations for nesting or roosting), food, and cover for wildlife. Mountain ranges may contain a variety of biomes or types of vegetation across an elevation gradient.

Mountain climate

Mountain animals come in all shapes and sizes, from tiny rodents to massive bears. While many are harmless, others can be pretty dangerous. They have to be able to adapt to a wide range of conditions. They must be able to withstand the cold temperatures and high winds of the mountains, as well as the intense sunlight. Some mountain animals are also adapted to living in very dry conditions.

Animals

Although its very cold, many different animals live in the polar climates, such as: Birds: There are many different types of birds that live there, such as the puffin, the common eider, arctic tern, etc… Whales: There are also lots of different whales such as the minke whale, the bowhead whale, the narwhal and the beluga whale.
