The first commercial mobile phone was invented by Martin Cooper, who made his first call from a mobile phone on 3 April 1973.

The first portable mobile phone was called the DynaTAC 8000X and was introduced to the US market in 1983. This model, approximately 25 cm high and weighing just under a kilo, was called a brick phone due to its physical specifications and costs 3,995 $.

The battery life did not even come close to that of today's mobile phones, in fact this device guaranteed 1 hour of calls and 8 hours of standby time. It could register up to 30 entries in the phonebook and had large buttons to easily type in the recipient's number.
