where is?

Nottingham is located in an area of low hills ,along the river valley.Surroundeb by Sherwood forest,from Derbishire, by Yorkshire and by Belvoir valley.

In Nottingham there is wildlife, Nottingham sheriff, deer and squirrels... There are many natural reserves, the most importat are Attenborough and National Sherwood forest reserve. The most importante forest is the Sherwood forest.

It was founded the Anglo-Saxons aroud the 600 a.C. Its name comes from an Anglo-Saxon chief, before it was called Snottingham. In the IX century it was conquered by the Vikings and it started to grow. Many man-made caves were built. Become a county in 1449. It entered the English civil war in 1646. During industrial revolution Nottingham was a extensive textile industry.

THE CAVES

Caves are an important part of the region. They provided shelter from rain in the past but also worked as sanctuary. Now they are a famous attractions for tourists. Most of them are artificial. Nottingham caves site has great importance to the heritage of the UK.

the legend of robin hood

Robin Hood was born in 1160. Considered an advocate of the poor, revolutionary and rebellious and the Nottingham autlaws. According to legend Robin Hood lived in Sherwood forest dressing in forest green with his bow. Best archer ever, he could hit targest from long dinstances with acute accuracy. He stole from the rich to give to the poor.

is a Catholic religious building,it's located at the intersection of Derby Road and North Circus, build from Augustus Peguin between 1841 and1844.

is the oldest religious building, built byTemple Sushington Moor.
  • NOTTINGHAM CASTLE:
has got a rock wall 40 m high, built by Normans in the XI century.
  • GREEN MILL:
its name comes from the Green family,who managed it, built by George Green in the XIX secolo
  • WALLATON HALL:
English country house built on the hill of Wallanton Park,built by Robert Smythson between 1580 and 1588
