How to recognize fake news ?
This Instagram post was posted by an account claiming to be a high school gossip account. In this post, the author accuses one of the high school's teachers, Mr. Angus, of selling drugs to a student. He also proposes to reveal this student's name if we send a dm (a private message).
Instagram post
In this situation, we can recognize that this is a fake news thanks to many things : - The account is not credible and is not certified. It's managed by a high school student, and doesn't have many likes and followers. - There is no proof. The information was just posted without explaining the context, and without giving any details. - On the post, it is written that you have to send a private message to find out who is the student who bought drugs: it almost looks like a scam. - It's an information that only spreads in high school. If it were true, it would be serious and would have been covered by the media. In addition, there would have been reactions from teachers and the police. - The student who posted the fake news just wanted to attract attention. The video shows that he made it.
