In questa presentazione parleremo di uno dei pianeti più particolari extra solari mai conosciuti dagli astronomi e di cosa lo rende così interessante. Conosciuto anche come K2-314 b o come TIC 480691896 b, TOI 1338 b è un esopianeta gassoso che orbita intorno a una stella binaria, e ed è proprio questo che lo rende interessante per gli astronomi e gli scienziati.

Nel gennaio del 2020 Wolf Cukier, stagista presso il Goddard Space Flight Center della Nasa, ha individuato un pianeta, Toi-1338 b,

- Ha un diametro di circa il doppio di quello della terra.
- Uno dei pianeti più grandi mai trovati.
- La sua massa e di 1.1 volte quella di giove.
- Uno dei primi pianeti mai conosciuti che orbita attornoad una stella binaria.

Come detto prima TOI 1338 b è un pianeta che orbita intorno a una stella binaria.Nell'imagine illustrata viene rappresentata l'orbita di TOI 1338 b.
La zona abitabile del sistema è compresa tra 1,3 e 2,3 UA dal baricentro del sistema, e secondo una simulazione del 2021 l'orbita di un pianeta terrestre circumbinario nella zona abitabile sarebbe dinamicamente stabile per lunghi periodi di tempo.

La scoperta di TOI 1338 b è solo l'inizio della ricerca sugli esopianeta.Ci sono ancora molte domande che rimangonbo senza risposta, e la ricerca di nuovi esopianeti continurae a rivelare molti altei pianeti interessanti, che potrebbe cambiare la nostra comprensione dell'universo e della vita extraterrestre.
