- The Dutch guilder was the currency of the Netherlands from 1434 to 2002.
- The word guilder is linked to the central Dutch word for gold: guilder.
- In 2002, the Netherlands switched completely to the euro, a new multinational currency linked to the European Union, of which the Netherlands and many other European countries are members.
When it exchange in euro
- One guilder is around 45 cents
- You can change most guilder banknotes into euros at De Nederlandsche Bank but not all of them.
- For example, you can exchange the 50 guilder banknote (called sunflower) until 2032 and the 5 guilder banknote until May 2025.
- Dutch guilders cannot be exchanged after 1 January 2032.
