Accessability to vaping and e-cigarette devices

A common question that is pondered over this overwhelming epidemic is how are minors gaining possession of these adult devices?

Where are minors getting these devices? Sady there are various ways minors have access to these adult devices across the United States. 22.2% of these devices are purchased illegally at tabaco and vape shops. 80% of minors get the devices from friends. 17.7% of minors prchase these devices from gas stations. and lastly, 49% of minos purchased these devices from their peers.

Social developement

Adolesents who depend on vapes or e-cigarette devices tend tostruggle to develop socially. With anxiety surrounding the dependance of intaking nicotine at a frequent rate social settings can become difficult and less morivating for the effected youth.

Breathing in the harmful e-cigarette cartrages and juice results in permanant damage. Using these devices puts every user at risk for lung disease, lung cancer, asthma, and chonic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Vaping can also cause short term effects like shortness of breath, couhing, tight chest, nausea, chest pain, and more.

Peer prssure

Peer pressure and adolesent relathionships are the most common ways kids under 18 start vaping. Obtaining these devices normally come from friends rather than adults supplying these devices. Starting as young as the age 13 up to the age 18 vaping and e-cigarette use has become an epidemic.

Depression rates in the USA

In 2022 the average rate of teen and adolesent depression raised fto 15.8% of those age 12-17. Studis have shown 1 out of 5 vapers or e-cigarette users suffer from depression.

  • Nicotine dependence has been linked to elvated anxiety levels
  • in 2022 2.5 million adolesents under the age of 18 use e-cigarettes
  • Nearly 85% of adolesents use flavored e-cigarettes
