CLIMATE CHANGE

Future U.S.A

Coastal areas are at high risk of sea levels rising and flooding cities. If temperatures continue to rise we may start losing cities and they become flooded and become part of the ocean. The Future of the U.S.A

This an illustion of what the U.S.A will look like if we do not take any action to slow down the effects of climate change

Preventing

What is Being Done

  • California has put mandatory limits on greenhouse gas emissions that are allowed in the state
  • Construction of sea walls to prevent costal cities from flooding
  • Newly constructed building can be built to projected climate change. (ex. raising the building off the ground to prevent flooding)
  • Electric cars to lower emissions

What is Being Done Globally

Venice has suffered from flooding for years some of it being because of climate change and others from natural reasons. Venice flood barriers were put to the test when the sea levels were rising and were threatening the city and the barriers successfully protected the city from the incoming flood. This is just one example from around the global that suffers from rising sea levels.

Climate change has affected Alaska due to the increase of global temperatures. With the increase of temperatures, glaciers are melting and it is leading to damage forests, buildings, roads, and coastlines.
