How has climate change impacted Miami, Florida?

The Miami, Florida area has experienced noticeable impacts from climate change, affecting the environment, wildlife, and human activities. Changes in weather patterns, including more frequent and intense hurricanes, rising sea levels, and increased temperatures, have collectively contributed to disruptions in ecosystems, posing challenges to both wildlife and residents. Acording to the Climate Change Impacts on Florida's Biodiversity and Ecology article, "Florida’s species have migrated and adapted to climate change in the past, but that ability is severely compromised now due largely to human modification of the landscape." (Stys et al.)

What is currently being done to help combat or remedy the situation?

Efforts are underway to address and mitigate the impacts of climate change in Miami. These initiatives include the development of resilient infrastructure to cope with rising sea levels, the promotion of sustainable practices, the implementation of policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and, community awareness and education programs are being created. (Trone et al.)

Similar climate change challenges are observed in coastal regions worldwide, like Bangladesh and the Maldives.
