The pelvic girdle supports upper body weight when we sit and transfers this weight to the lower limbs when we stand. The pelvic girdle protects:

  • male and female reproductive organs
  • digestive organs: the end of the large intestine, including the rectum and anus
  • urinary organs: the bladder and urethra.
