Levels and grades

KINDERGARTEN --> 4 - 6 years PRIMARY SCHOOL --> 6 - 12 years:- 1st grade --> 6 - 7 years-2nd grade --> 7 - 8 years-3rd grade --> 8 - 9 years-4th grade --> 9 - 10 years -5th grade --> 10 - 11 years-6th grade --> 11 - 12 years

PRIMARY EDUCATION

Lyceum or VT:

  • 1st course --> 15 - 16 years
  • 2nd course --> 16 - 17 years ( Humanity/Science )
  • 3rd course --> 17 - 18 years ( H/S/Economy )
  • FP: (Agriculture, Economy, Ingeniery, Health...)

Greece only have three courses:

  • 1st of secondary --> 12 - 13 years
  • 2nd ofsecondary --> 13 - 14 years
  • 3rd of secondary --> 14 - 15 years

SECONDARY EDUCATION

Access college, private training centers managed by other countries, whose degrees are equivalent to Grades and Masters

Enter vocational training institutes. They last 2 years, followed by a period of work practice.

Taking a 9-month course at EDAL is called the learning axis; want to mix theoretical training with work practices.

In Greece, starting hours vary according to school, educational level and other factors.-Normaly STARTS around ---> 8:00 - 9:00 in the morning-And CONCLUDING around ---> 14:00 - 15:00 in the afternoon-Usually, primary and secondary school have at least one recess period during the morning, and another one for lunch. -The length of the break is usually about 15 to 30 min.

Bachillerato: non-compulsory but prepares students for university, from age 16 to 18. Higher education: Universities offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Higher education in Greece is highly valued, and the country is home to several prestigious universities. The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is the largest and oldest in Greece. The system wants to equalize its standards with those of other European educational institutions.

GREECE HAS ALSO PROMOTED TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE LABOR MARKET . HOWEVER , AS IN MANY COUNTRIES , EDUCATION CONTINUES TO BE AN EVOLVING ISSUE , FACING CHALLENGES AND ADAPTING TO THE CHANGING NEEDS OF SOCIETY.
