Living things
Animals, plants and humans are living things. Any living thing is called an organism.Respire: to breath. Inhale and exhale air successively.Interact: to communicate with or react to.
Non-living things
Things that are not alive. They do not grow, reproduce, breathe, adapt or interact with anything or anyone

Carl Linnaeus: Swedish botanist who develop a simple way to classify all organisms, the binomial nomenclature.Botanist: a person who studies plants.
How are living things classified?
Binomial nomenclature
It classifies animals and plants by two names.The first word identifies the generic name of the genus or the group of species, the animal or plant belongs to.The second word is specific and distinguishes the species from other species in the same genus.

Classification hierarchy
Hierarchy: a way of organizing things in a series of levels of different importance or status.Kingdom: the highest rank in the classification system.Species: a group of living organismswith common characteristics who can interact and reproduce.

Plant classification
The plant kingdom is divided into two main groups: flowering plants and non-flowering plants.Spores: a tiny seed-like cell produced by some plants, fungi or bacteria to reproduce.
Vertebrates: an animal that has a spine (bone down the center of the back)Invertebrates: any animal that lacks a vertebral column, or backbone.Gills: the organ through which fish and other water creatures breathe
