The story took place ages ago, in 1605. Robert Catesby was the leader of a group of English Catholics who planned the Gunpowder Plot. Guy Fawkes helped him to blow up the Houses of Parliament: they rented a cellar where they brought lots of barrels of gunpowder. They wanted to kill King James I and all the Lords at the same time, but Guy Fawkes was found in the cellar, arrested and executed. The King ordered to set a big bonfire in order to celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot. Every year people celebrate on 5 november Guy Fawkes night or Bonfire Night just by making huge figures of Guy Fawkes and throwing them into the fire. They also organise fireworks displays.
