Dear sponsor, On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank you for the valuable support provided to our scientific and informative expedition sailing La España Azul, as well as your participation in the different events that we have been carrying out along the entire Spanish coast between 2022 and 2023. According to a recent study published in the journal Nature Sustainability, 80% of marine litter is plastic, this is corroborated to date by the data that we are obtaining from the more than 26 beach cleanings and 200 samplings that we have carried out at different geolocated points. at sea. Under the motto "Explore, Learn and Protect", in parallel to the research work, we have carried out numerous citizen science activities of which thousands of people from all over the country have taken part. As a culmination, as a cherry on top, and on the occasion of Spain's presidency in the European Union, last July we had the opportunity to give a conference at the Summit of Environment Ministers of the 27 member states, bringing them closer to the enormous problem What plastic pollution means for marine ecosystems and our own health, our commitment to sustainability and the scientific and informative work that we are carrying out with our oceanographic campaign La España Azul. We are convinced that global action and the involvement of all sectors of society are key to eradicating this problem at its roots. I did not want to say goodbye without first sharing with you that in October 2023 we will publish a first report on macro-marine litter with the data collected in beach cleanups, and in 2024 we will publish a publication with the conclusions on micro and nano-plastics collected in sea samples.
