-King of England, Scotland, and Ireland -Determined to govern according to his own conscience - Tried, convicted, and executed for high treason
-In the course of his reign, he would dissolve parliament three times in just four years -Personal Rule (1629–40) or “Eleven-Year Tyranny” -English Civil War fought between forces loyal to Charles I and those who served Parliament
