Our planet faces major environmental issues with far-reaching consequences for all living beings.1. Global Warming from Fossil Fuels:

In May 2023, CO2 concentration hit 420.00 ppm causing a 1.15°C temperature rise. Greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels are the primary cause. Last time CO2 levels were this high was over 4 million years ago, leading to bushfires, locust swarms, and heatwaves in Antarctica. To tackle this, we need to reduce emissions, invest in renewable energy, and phase out fossil fuels ASAP.

  • The climate crisis is a result of multiple market failures.
  • Increasing the price of activities emitting greenhouse gases and investing in green innovation to reduce costs of low-carbon energy sources.
2. Poor Governance:
  • Winter's high energy prices drive renewable energy adoption by improving cost-effectiveness;
  • Clean energy has socio-economic impacts, so balancing environment, economy, and social well-being is crucial.
3. Energy Crisis and Transition:
  • Leads to insufficient species to perform essential functions, leading to ecological collapse when combined with global warming and ocean acidification.

4. Biodiversity Loss and Ecosystem Collapse:

  • Causes health issues, affects agriculture, industry and commerce;
  • Leads to lower crop yields, stunted economic growth, poverty and food insecurity in farming-dependent regions;
  • Harms ecosystems, degrades habitats, endangers species, and reduces soil productivity;
  • Affects vulnerable populations, limiting their opportunities and with climate changes it worsens the problem.

5. Water Scarcity:

  • Irresponsible waste disposal harms marine life, affects public health, and threatens biodiversity.
  • Proper waste management is crucial for sustainable development and prevents soil contamination and harmful chemicals from affecting food safety.
  • Landfill burning releases toxic substances, harming vulnerable populations, especially children.

6. Waste Management:

  • Causes ecosystem disruption, habitat destruction, soil erosion, and loss of biodiversity;
  • It affects climate, water cycles, and weather patterns, leading to floods and landslides;
  • Deforestation also impacts human well-being, tourism, timber industries, and local economies.

7. Deforestation and Habitat Destruction:

  • Overfishing disrupts entire ecosystems and erodes the food web, causing a loss of marine life and affecting vulnerable species like sea turtles.
  • Sustainable practices are essential for conserving ecosystems, sustaining livelihoods, and ensuring food security.
  • Plastic and chemical pollutants harm marine animals and contaminate seafood. Proper waste management and fishing regulations can prevent overexploitation and protect marine ecosystems.

8. Ocean Pollution and Overfishing:

  • Overexploitation causes habitat destruction and risks species extinction. 28% of assessed species are threatened with extinction. Around 33% of soils are degraded, which hurts agricultural productivity and can lead to higher commodity prices.
  • Human consumption has used up natural resources for the year by July 28, leading to ecological debt.
  • The Global Footprint Network suggests delaying overexploitation by 4.5 days each year.

9. Loss of Natural Resources:

  • Builds resilience to extreme weather, sea-level rise, and other climate impacts;
  • It reduces economic losses and improves public health. Restoring ecosystems benefits biodiversity and water quality;
  • Ensuring vulnerable populations benefit is critical. Resilient infrastructure requires substantial investments.

10. Climate Adaptation and Resilience:
