  • If a crime was commited, it was up to all the people of the town to find the person who committed the crime, this is the Hue and Cry ( It was the duty of any person discovering a crime to raise the hue and cry)

The people we call Anglo-Saxons were actually immigrants from northern Germany who came to England after the Romans left.

Their invasion was slow and gradual, and began even before the Roman legions departed: Anglo-Saxon mercenaries had for many years fought in the Roman Army in Britain, so they were not total strangers to the island.

The language of the Anglo-Saxons, known as Old English, was spoken in England from approximately the 5th century to the 11th century.
