Objectives

Mental Learning Objectives: The learner will understand the importance of mental health. They will also comprehend the negative impacts of bullying on mental health and emotional well-being, as well as how addictions to alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs can harm health and well-being. The learner will be knowledgeable about relevant prevention strategies aimed at promoting positive physical and mental health and overall well-being. Emotional Learning Objectives: The learner will be capable of encouraging others to make decisions and take actions that support the promotion of health and well-being for everyone. The learner will possess the ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of a life focused on health and well-being, and to clarify the associated values, beliefs, and attitudes. Physical Objectives: The learner will be able to incorporate health-promoting behaviors into their daily routines. The learner will have the skills to plan, implement, evaluate, and replicate strategies that enhance health, including sexual and reproductive health, and well-being for themselves, their families, and others.

Holistic Health and the Medicine Wheel.

Holistic health focuses on the four parts of a person’s wellbeing: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. The Medicine Wheel dates back to stone circles found in North America from the earliest of times and its concept and teachings continue to be relevant today. The circle is a powerful symbol that accounts for and acknowledges every aspect of existence in its four quadrants. Traditional knowledge teaches that good health requires a balance of all four parts. The symbol of the Medecine Wheel demonstrates this holistic health model, it is circular, each element is equal and interconnected, and cyclical with factors influencing one another.An imbalance in any area may negatively affect your overall health. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to all kinds of health, not just the physical health of your body.
