There where 4.7 thousand pepole with mental health problems in México City only in 2019, this is a serious problem becouse there are many problems among the comunity.

Mexico City, October 5, 2023 — As applications continue to increase, nearly reaching 100,000 at the end of August, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) warned the growing need for humanitarian assistance, including in areas such as mental health. Another detail about mental health is that nearly 20% of children and young people ages 3-17 in the United States have a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder.

Information

In 2018, approximately 25% of people between 18 and 65 years old had a mental health problem and only 3% of this percentage sought medical attention.

HEALTH EMERGENCIES

High temperatures worsen symptoms of mental conditions and have been linked to an increase in manic episodes of bipolar disorder, suicide attempts, anxienty and depression. Research has shown that mental health related deaths increase by 2.2 percent for every 1°C increase monthly average temperatures, according to WEF.

The high temperatures hitting Mexico since the 12th week of 2022 have caused 690 health emergencies.
