Many of the Second Continetal Congress delagates were afriad to seperate from England. So instead they sent the Olive branch petitiion to the king but it was ignored. The Second Continental also had selected George Washington as leader of the army due to his experiance during the French and Indian war.

The battles at lexington and concord were the first battles of the American Revolution. These battles were also known as "The shot heard around the world". The battle of Bunker Hill was signifigant to the colonist becuase they fought a hard battle against the strongest military in the world and held there own even though they lost in the end this gave the colonist the idea that they could actually win the war.

Abigail Adams was an advocate for womans right and she wanted political equality along with equality in education. The positive impact of her movements to seek equality also made other woman want to have expanded roles in society. Republican motherhood was the act of mother teaching the family republican values and this granted a new role in American political culture.

The signifigance of the Deleration of Independance had a great impact during the war because this officially marked the day that the colonist were revolting against the strongest empire in the world.

The second by Thomas Paine he encouraged many Americans support and join the army during the time of the revolution but some of the soldiers were only in the army for a short amount of time so it was hard for the army to maintain a proper amount of soldiers.

Battle of Saratoga

Significance of the Battle of Saratoga:

The major signifigance of this battle was the fact that it was the turning point of the war. This is because that other european powers came to join the war on the colonies side because of the win at Saratoga the colonies were able to gain France as ally.

Despite the harsh winter that brough cold and illnes, George Washington took was able to train and improve his armies capabilities and skills for the oncoming battles. His toops were trained by Baron Friedrich von Steuben, a Prussian military officer.

The battle of Yorktown is where Lord Cornwallis and his British were trapped in Yorktown surrounded by George Washignton and the French. The British ultimateley surendered ending both the battle and the revoloutionary war.

All land from the east coast to the Mississippi River is given to America. Along with the territory gained America also gains it's Independence from Britain.
