Individuals with Disabilities Education act & Deaf children
IDEA- stands for the individual with disabilities education act.
What is "IDEa" ?
ABout IDEA
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is what makes free public education widly avaliable for children with disabilities. They provide special education and any needed services. "IDEA" was signed on November 29, 1975 by Gerald Ford.
Deaf children's education
The Individual with Disabilities Education Act has given Deaf children the opprotunity to be included in public education. Any Deaf children attending public schools should be provided with appropriate services. This can be an Interpreter, Signing Aide ect. Public school classrooms are typically set up for hearing students and not Deaf students. Students also need to be given the tools to succeed academicly and socially. Many teachers

Social Interaction
Social peer interaction for kids in general is important for developing communication skills and develping social skills. Deaf children in mainstream classrooms don't automaticlly gain these skills. Deaf students can feel isolated because of the communication barriers they face. Limited communication can make it hard to develop friendships with other students. Due to isolation Deaf kids may experience bullying due to them being diffrent, especially if they are the only deaf student.
