Discussion Prompt #1
If you could only select one of the previously shared teaching strategies to implement with your students, which one would you select and why?
Discussion Prompt #2
What is something you specifically do to practice inclusion for all students? How do you see this benefiting students who have experienced trauma?
Discussion Prompt #3
What do you see as benefits of competency-based learning? What do you see as possible negative aspects of this type of learning?
Discussion Prompt #4
Differentiation is critical for student success. We all do amazing things every day to differentiate for academics, but we often forget that differentiation should be used for behavior. How do you differentiate for behavior in your setting?
Closing Statement
Educators make such a significant impact on the lives of students and have the immense responsibility to ensure every student learns. By encorporating standards-based grading, along with even one strategy (metacognition, mindfulness, problem-based learning, inclusion, personalized learning, and competency-based learning), student learning is enhanced, as well as the overall sense of community within the classrom.
