The museum was founded at the time of in 1978, had its first headquarters in the traditional Carlos E. Restrepo neighborhood. In 2009, the MAMM was relocated to the southern part of the city.
ORIGIN
HISTORIC CONTEXT
IIts origin is to the union of a group of artists, belonging to the so-called “urban generation”. formed for architects, businessmen, in order to awaken the public's interest in modern and contemporary art.
On April 22, 1980 we opened the doors to the public with the inaugural exhibition Art in Antioquia and the decade of the seventies, an exhibition that sought to establish the relationships between “traditional art”
About the museum
From Tuesday to Friday: 11:00 am. to 7:00 p.m. Sat, Sun and holidays: 11:00 am. to 6:00 p.m. On Mondays and Tuesdays after holidays, the Museum closes its doors.

The MAMM is a space that questions traditions and has a proactive attitude towards the determining issues of contemporary society. Its objective is to make available to the public diverse ways of seeing and interpreting the world, providing meaningful experiences around art.

It is also dedicated to research, conservation and dissemination in the fields of modern and contemporary art, as well as the cultural development of the city.

Fragmented Geometries Iván Hurtado
