The declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, and it detailed the colonies complaints about King George III, as well as declaring the colonist's independence.
Women were called upon to teach republican values within the family. This allowed women to be more politically active.
The Secon Continental congress was the acting government at the time. It selected George Washington to be the leader of the Continental army.
Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the Revolution. They are commonly referred to as "the shot heard around the world."

The Battle of Yorktown secured the American victory of the Revolutionary War. The British surrenderd on October 1781.
At valley forge soldiers lacked food, clothing, and suffered from a cold, harsh winter. Baron Von Struben and Marquis de Lafayette helped George Washington train his troops.
Saratoga was the turning point of the revolution. It was the greatest victory for American forces and it convinced the Spanish and French to support the war.
