Vertebrates and anthropods in land were dying and reproduction rates were falling. With a drop in oxygen levels in the waters marine life also suffered a large decline. The ocean reefs suffered the largest impact as 4,999,000 square kilometers died by the end.

Devonian Period
Late Devonian Extinctions
The period was known for the greatest diversity of marine life, as well as, a peak of reef growth. Vascular plants and tetrapods began to appear in the Middle Devonian.
This was a period of very high sea levels and equable climates. Also known for the greatest amount of carbonate production.
