He was born in India and after a year he moved to the UK with his mother Ida and his sister Marjorie.He studied in England and also obtained a scholarship to Eton College, where his teacher was Aldous Huxley.In his life he wrote several books and essays, but his fame is due to Animal Farm and 1984.

Plot
The book is set in Oceania, a totalitarian state ruled by Big Brother. The protagonist, Winston Smith, is a Party official who begins to doubt the oppressive regime in which he lives. Winston starts keeping a secret diary, which is illegal, in this diary he expresses his thoughts and dissatisfaction with the Party. He also meets Julia, a woman with whom he begins a secret love story. The two try to resist the Party's control, but they are eventually discovered and tortured to make them confess their thought-crimes.
