The U.K nowadays
Post-roman Britain
- Julius Cesar's first attempt in invading Britain in 55 BC
- The "La Tène" period between 450-25 BC
- Britain separated in different warring tribes
Through time and space
Who lived in Britain then ?
- 24 tribes from Europe with their own: - ruler / chief (king) , - language and
- Ex : Trinovantes, Silures...

- they hunted with wooden spears
- Men wore tunics and trousers and women wore long dresses
- They were protected by wooden fences
- Small settlements with mud, straw and wood
How did they live ?
Who did they worship ?
- Polytheists (unknown)
- One god only, seen on Celtic jewellery : a Stag with huge antlers
- Priests called Druids
- Druids aided the Celts (sacrifices/throwing items in rivers and pods)
- Proud warriors
- Fearsome ennemies for the Romans because they saw off Julius Cesar from his first invasion !
- They had strategies to impress their opponents : wearing blue, painting themselves blue, or putting their hair up to make themselves look taller
