STBBI is short for Sexual Transmitted Blood Borne Infections. Sometimes also called STIs or STDs, these are bacterial and viral infections you can get or share through sexual contact with someone else. From 2011 to 2020, rates of certain STBBIs rose across the country! According to a report from the Public Health Agency of Canada, there were increases in the rates of chlamydia (26%), gonorrhea (171%), and infectious syphilis (389%). The Once A Year campaign is looking to raise awareness about routine STBBI testing, as a regular way that anyone can help reduce the spread of STBBIs.
