Guided Notes :
Describes a verb phrase by expressing manner, place, time, degree, or number. It can also describe an adjective or another adverb.

Examples :
- She moved quietly. (Tells how)
- I waited there for an hour. (Tell where)
- You may leave soon. (Tells when)
- I called you once. (Tells how many)
- He sat very still. (Tells how much)
Many adverbs end in -ly: completely, frequently, firmly, obviously, carefully.Remember that not all words that end in -ly are adverbs (daily news, early appointment, only message), and that not all adverbs must end in -ly (best, now, fast, ever, not).
