At that time he was living in London.
The play is believed to have been written between 1590 and 1592..
He wrote this play to oppose the cold social rules of arranged marriages.

Christopher Sly argues with the bartender and falls asleep
Christopher Sly wakes up and is convinced that he is a rich man who has recovered from a 15-year coma.
Christopher Sly is taken by his ''wife'' to the theater for a performance in his honor.
PROLOGue
The Lord arrives and orders to bring the drunk sleeper to his palace . He also hires some actors.

Petruccio marries Katherine, Hortensius an old widow, and Lucentio marries Bianca
Lucentio and Tranio arrive in Padua for studies and witness Baptista Minola's fight
the three men bet on which wife was the most obedient, Katherine unexpectedly wins, who then scolds the other two.
Petruccio also arrives in Padua, Lucentio falls in love with bianca and with Gremio decides to pretend to be a tutor.
