Protected Area

The Bicentenario Park is a protected area that protects the native flora and fauna of the country. This protected area is a refuge for various species of plants and animals, providing a safe habitat and preserving the region's biodiversity. Visitors can enjoy nature trails where they can observe birds, butterflies, and other animals in their natural environment. In addition, conservation and environmental education efforts are carried out to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting these natural resources.

General information:

The Bicentenario Park of El Salvador is an important public space located in San Salvador, the capital of the country. It was inaugurated in September 2011 as part of the celebrations of the bicentennial of the independence of El Salvador. This park was built on the land that previously housed a military base called "El Zapote". It is an emblematic place that symbolizes the history and evolution of the Salvadoran nation, offering its residents a space for recreation, learning and celebrating their national identity.

Environmental Conservation

The bicentenario park is recognized for its commitment to environmental conservation. The laws are intended to develop the provisions on protection and conservation of the environment; For this reason, the park implements some laws such as the right to participate (article 11), participation in laws and regulations (article 49A), among others that serve to protect green areas, waste management, efficient use of water and care for flora and fauna.

Ecosystem:

Parque Bicentenario have often included a combination of vegetation, landscaped areas, playgrounds, trails, and possibly man-made bodies of water. These spaces are designed to provide the community with a place to enjoy outdoor activities and connect with nature, although their main focus is the conservation of natural ecosystems. In Antiguo Cuscatlán, the wet season is oppressive and overcast, the dry season is humid and mostly clear, and it is hot year round. During the course of the year, the temperature generally ranges from 16°C to 29°C and rarely drops below 14°C or rises above 31°C

Flora

The Bicentenario Park has a biodiversity typical of a shaded coffee plantation. In this protected natural area, you can find a large number of plant species. The park is home to more than 500 specimens of wild flora, which makes it an ideal place to enjoy nature and observe different types of plants. Some of the flora species that can be found in the park include trees such as ceibo, the guanacaste, the jacaranda and the cedar, among others. You can also find shrubs such as myrtle, jasmine, and bougainvillea, which add beauty and color to the park's landscape.

Fauna

The fauna in the Bicentenario Park is very diverse and has a variety of animal species. Next, I provide you with information about the fauna that you can find in this park: Amphibians: At least 10 species of amphibians. Birds: There are around 118 species of birds. Insects: Around 183 species of butterflies, 94 species of arachnids and 18 families of aquatic insects have been identified. Macro fungi: At least 79 species of macro fungi. Mammals: There are around 26 species of mammals Reptiles: At least 10 species of reptiles have been identified in the park.
