80% of staff have reported that working with a screen reader feels overwhelming to learn. The aim today is to simplify this process to promote mastery and mentoring on our team.

Summary

JAWS stands for Job Access with Speech. It helps people with visual impairments and other types visual access challenges use the web.

Objectives

Learners will utilize the the five essential hot keys to navigate JAWS for web-browsing to embed into their daily work routines

Outcomes

Learners will operate JAWS using keyboard navigation for at least one task a day when using the web

Tab

Function 1: Navigation

Ensure JAWS is activated

Go to a website

Orient to where the JAWS cursor is located

Repeatedly select the Tab Key to move from field to field in the website.

Hold both keys down at the same time.

Function 2: Activating Link List in HTML

Ensure JAWS is activated

Go to a website

Orient to where the JAWS cursor is located

Key In "Insert +F7." *If you computer has a function button. The hot key could work as Fn+F7

Key in "t"

Function 2: Links Previously Visited

Ensure JAWS is activated

Go to a website

Orient to where the JAWS cursor is located

Key in "V" so JAWs will tell you what Links you have already visited
