Maxine Waters is an advocate for people of color, women, and children. She founded many programs to help and increase funding to the people. She is the founder of Black Women’s Forum- A space where black women come together to communicate, create friendship. Founded Project Build- a program that aims to prevent teens and young adults from gang involvement.

She never went against her party, but she did something her party was scared to do. In 2018 Waters called for Trump to be impeached. She also scared her party because she urged people to confront administration officials face-to-face about separating parents and children at the border.

After the retirement of Augustus F. Hawkins in 1990 Maxine was elected to the United States house of Representatives for California 29th congressional district with a 79% vote.
