Progress
Progress can be tracked using many different methods. Be it a Jira board, Kanban, or even notepad and paper, the key part is keeping track of where each of your tasks currently are. Its important, as when you are asked for updates by the stakeholder, or others from your team you are able to quickly and effectively give a rundown of the status of everything.
PRIORITISATION
Prioritising your tasks in order of importance and deadline can really help to focus your efforts. Knowing which items are the highest priorty means you can allocate more time to getting them done rather than blanketing all tasks with the same effort. Utilising the tools that will be showcased in a later part of this training can be a great way to achieve this, allowing you to quickly rank items based on their priority levels.
Planning
Use the tools at your disposal! This course will cover some tools you can utilise to help with planning and managing your tasks. Alongside this, utilise the learnings from the time management training wherein you should try to note how long certain tasks take you, and use that to inform your planning. Knowing the amount of time on average it takes you to do something means you can accurately block that time out as needed and manage your own workload effectively
PURPOSE
Identifying the goal of the piece of work is an obvious thing, but it is often overlooked. Being clear on requirements and the end goal of the work can help guide your deliveries to the next level. Clarify any existing questions early with your stakeholder and work to understand why they want what they want. This will help in all other steps!
