Value proposition

Over the next two weeks you will study unit 4. This continuers our evaluation of opportunities using the John Mullins' model with an assessment of the team.

The first unit looks at identifying opportunities and you should study this over the first two weeks of your online study. Ensure you take part in the forums and activities by posting your responses. The topics we will cover include the different perspectives of opportunity, definitions and theories that have evolved and how and why opportunities arise.

The overview section welcomes you to the module and provides you will all the important information regarding your assessment, key dates, forums, webinars and your residential sessions. Ensure you work through this section ahead of attending the residential.

The final unit, unit 6 looks at the value proposition canvas. You will study the methodology to understand the 'jobs being done' by potential customers and the pain and inconvenience they experience. We will also take a look at market entry.

In unit 5 we spend the next two weeks looking at business models, starting with an examination of the history of business models and the different definitions and then a then a look at what has become the dominant design – Alex Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas.

Unit 2 is released two weeks in to your online studies and you should study this over the next two weeks. It starts with an introduction to the John Mullins' seven domains model and then looks at two of the domains - conducting a macro market assessment and a target market segment. You will study the remaining elements of the model over the next two units. As you work through the unit, if you have any questions for Simon for the webinars please do post these in the relevant forum.

There is no preparation for your residential sessions.

Over the next two weeks you will be studying unit 3 which continue the evaluation of opportunities using the John Mullins' seven domains model. Here, looking at the assessment of industry attractiveness, competitive advantage and economic sustainability.
