What is the application deadline?
This regime must be requested within 6 months after your registration in the Spanish social security or since the start date indicated in the certificate of coverage as an employee, self-employed or as a director (with no extensions).
You would only be taxed on your world-wide employment income and on your Spanish-sourced remaining income, at a flat rate of 24% for up to 600.000 Euros and the exceeding at 47%. Only Spanish capital gains, interests and dividends are taxed from 19 to 28%. Foreign properties and invesments will not be taxable in Spain. This Special Expatriate Tax Regime lasts for the first year that you are a Spanish Tax Resident and the following 5 years, as long as you keep working in Spain under one of the situations we will explain later on.

It may apply if your net wealth is over certain thresholds. Every Autonomous region has a different one (Catalonia and Valencia 500.000 Euros, Balearic Islands 700.000 Euros, Madrid and Andalucia is Wealth Tax free, etc.).

Avoid being taxed twice
If you perceive income from abroad, that also pays taxes abroad, you can avoid paying taxes twice by applying a tax credit, according to the Double Tax Treaty.

Non-Habitual Resident Regime
3. That the individual does not obtain income which would be classified as being obtained through a permanent establishment situated in Spanish territory, except in the last 2 cases.
Please note that the Beckham rules allow people to come to Spain to work remotely for a non-resident entity and apply for the Beckham law are really new and self-employed ONLY can apply in a few cases if some requirements are met. Perform an economic activity that involves providing services to startups located in Spain or carrying out activities of training, research, development or innovation for which it receives over 40% of the total income from work and economic activity
HIGHLY QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS
Perform an entrepreneurial activity that is innovative or of special economic interest and obtains a favorable report from the relevant Spanish authority.
ENTREPRENEURS
Being appointed as director of a Spanish company in which you must hold less than 25% of its share capital, directly or indirectly, in case it is a passive company.
DIRECTORS
- A new employment contract with a Spanish company. - A relocation from your current non-resident company into a Spanish subsidiary / branch (international assignment). - Working remotely as an employee for a non-resident company through the exclusive use of a computer and IT systems.
