IMU Library has been invited by The Dar Al-Hikmah Library of IIUM Kuantan Campus to share its best practices at a two-day knowledge-sharing session on managing library counter services. The session aimed to foster collaboration among public and private universities library, providing the Circulation Librarians from IIUM, UNIMAS, UCSI, and IMU with valuable ideas to enhance their library services, and promote best practices to ensure efficient and user-friendly services. Day 1: Public University (IIUM & UNIMAS). The session began with IIUM presenting its approach to counter-duty scheduling, complaint management, and the KhAIR techniques for efficient service. UNIMAS emphasized staff training, communication with users, and leveraging automation tools for improved efficiency. Day 2: Private University (UCSI & IMU). UCSI showcased its innovative use of self-service, implementing mobile applications, and optimizing space utilization in library counter services. IMU highlighted personalized user assistance, continuous improvement through feedback, and successful KPI/Assessment projects. Strategies discussed among the libraries included effective scheduling, staff training, automation tools, and personalized assistance. Continued efforts in sharing best practices will lead to improved library counter services across educational institutions.

IMU Library, Bukit Jalil, 9th March 2023 - The IMU Main Campus Library hosted the first Medical Library Group (MLG) meeting of 2023 which was chaired by Puan Hajjah Katrunanada bt Haji Hashim, Chief Librarian of the Ministry of Health. This meeting brought together 27 librarians from different medical libraries in Malaysia. The event was an opportunity to share important updates and upcoming events in the medical library community. During the MLG meeting, Puan Hajjah Katrunanada bt Haji Hashim announced several important events for the year. These events aim to improve the field of medical librarianship and encourage collaboration among professionals. Here are the highlights: Coaching Session for Junior Librarians and Library Assistants: Dr. Ghazali Mohamed Fadzil, Chairperson of the PPM Committee, shared an exciting opportunity for junior librarians and library assistants. They will have the chance to participate in an online coaching session, where they can learn important skills for their roles. Workshop for Poster and Paper Presentation Preparation for IFLA: To help MLG members prepare for the upcoming IFLA conference, a workshop will be organized on 6th & 7th March 2023. Participants will learn useful techniques for creating effective posters and papers that will impress the global library community. International Conference on Library and Information Science (ICOLIS): The highly anticipated ICOLIS will take place on 4th-5th June in Kuala Lumpur. This conference is a platform for library and information science professionals to share innovative research and ideas. IFLA Grant and IFLA Volunteers Application: MLG members can apply for the IFLA Grant and consider volunteering at the IFLA Conference in Rotterdam, Netherlands on 25th August 2023. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the global library community and gain international experience. International Symposium on Open Science for Information Professionals: The International Symposium on Open Science will be held on 14th-15th March at AKEPT. It will cover the latest trends and practices in open science, providing valuable insights for information professionals. Medicore Text 3rd Edition Workshop: A workshop on the Medicore Text 3rd Edition will be held on 2nd-3rd June in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This workshop, facilitated by experienced Senior Librarians within MLG will enhance participants' knowledge and expertise in Medicore Text. In addition to the exciting announcements, the MLG meeting encouraged discussions that fostered collaboration and progress. Some important highlights included: Team Building Activities: Recognizing the importance of building strong professional relationships, UMS library will organize a fun team-building activity in Kiulu, Sabah on 3rd June 2023. This event will promote camaraderie and create shared experiences among MLG members. Committee Activities and Achievements: The committee leads shared their accomplishments from 2022 and presented their plans for 2023. Their dedication to driving MLG's success and advancing the field of medical librarianship was evident. MLG continues to work towards collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth, aiming to achieve new milestones in the medical library community.

A decade of Dedicated Service and Innovation

On Friday, 17 March 2023, the International Medical University Celebrated University Day with a ceremony to recognize the achievements of outstanding members of the university community. Two of our librarians, Mr. Razman Shah Mohd Razali and Mr. Norhalim Mohd Nor, were among those recognized for their contributions to the university’s library services.

On Friday, 17 March 2023, the International Medical University Celebrated University Day with a ceremony to recognize the achievements of outstanding members of the university community. Two of our librarians, Mr. Razman Shah Mohd Razali and Mr. Norhalim Mohd Nor, were among those recognized for their contributions to the university’s library services. During the ceremony, Mr. Razman Shah Mohd Razali and Mr. Norhalim Mohd Nor were presented with Long Service Awards, recognizing their 10 years of dedicated service and their commitment to providing excellent service to the university community. Both librarians have been valuable members of the library team, constantly pushing for innovation and creativity in their work. Their expertise and professionalism have greatly contributed to the success of the library’s programs and services, and they have received numerous commendations and positive feedback from the university community. As we celebrated the contributions of Mr. Razman Shah Mohd Razali and Mr. Norhalim Mohd Nor, we are reminded of their significant impact on the university’s library services. Their dedication to excellence serves as an inspiration to us all, and we thank them for their invaluable contributions over the past decade.

Information literacy is becoming an increasingly important skill in today's knowledge, where access to information is abundant but only sometimes trustworthy. As such, the International Medical University (IMU) Library organized an information literacy session on ProQuest RefWorks workshop on 22nd March and 21st June 2023 to help students and faculty members develop their skills to analyze information and arrange it in a more systematic way. The online workshop was led by Mr. Razman Shah, a Senior Librarian at IMU and a specialist in information literacy.

IMU Library's ProQuest RefWorks Workshop Information literacy is becoming an increasingly important skill in today's knowledge, where access to information is abundant but only sometimes trustworthy. As such, the International Medical University (IMU) Library organized an information literacy session on ProQuest RefWorks workshop on 22nd March and 21st June 2023 to help students and faculty members develop their skills to analyze information and arrange it in a more systematic way. The online workshop was led by Mr. Razman Shah, a Senior Librarian at IMU and a specialist in information literacy. The ProQuest RefWorks workshop was recommended for those new to RefWorks, preparing their thesis/research, and those who recently joined the university and would like to migrate references from their Legacy RefWorks to ProQuest RefWorks account. The workshop taught specific techniques that participants can use to effectively manage their research data, including registering an individual account, importing references from Legacy RefWorks to ProQuest RefWorks, importing references from the EDS search engine, importing references from Google Scholar, importing references from websites such as NICE, SIGN, and The Star, and generating citations via Microsoft Word.
