Summary of the project

At a time of global uncertainty and societal fragmentation, there is a real and pressing need to grow empathy and compassion and to challenge an existing lack of concern for, or connection with the suffering of others and the degradation of the planet. The eTwinning project 2022-23 “Teens’ Action Spreading Kindness (T.A.S.K.)” is a 9- month-long (October 2022 -June 2023) capacity building project for students at the lower and higher secondary education level aimed to build a generation of respectful, responsible, healthy, and caring youth by strengthening their belief that they can make make this world a kinder world. The T.A..S.K project will provide a structure for students around the world to connect as a team to learn about real global issues that they will need to face together whereby they exchange cultural information and discuss, plan, research, and create their own unique community projects. Through authentic international collaboration, students will become global citizens who can make a difference.

Partners worked collaboratively on the Google Docs below on topics students suggested to create a quiz for their schools. This quiz in English was then translated into each mother tongue to be shared in their schools and be played by all students. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRDIt2ow_N73eKmpt0i4A4HZh501fpYQoIsc1GyuRU-t_-3TR-J-gui4sUpB_ReGZ2swVSNH8ChQORD/pub Link to the folder containing the final products: the quiz created collaboratively in English and the quizzes translated.

INVESTIGATION STAGE International teams’ assignment until 10th March Dear teachers and students, You have all presented relevant community problems affecting your community and that you are passionate about, from environmental issues to social problems. Now it is time to do some in depth research on the community problems selected and that are affecting your community. Please, follow the guidelines provided below: Conduct the research to learn and understand the problem:

  • Look for reliable sources like news articles, government websites, and non-profit organizations. And keep a record of those sources for reference.
  • Gather as much information as possible about the problem you have chosen to understand how the problem affects your country and your community in particular:
1- Research the causes: Find out why this problem is happening. What are the factors that contribute to it? 2- Analyze the impact: Think about how this problem is affecting your community. Who is affected and how? Why is it important to solve the problem/What will happen if the problem is not solved? 3- Identify existing solutions: Are there any existing solutions to this problem? What have people tried in the past? What has worked and what hasn’t? 4- What would you suggest as a solution?
  • This research can be done through online sources, newspaper articles, interviewing people in the community, or visiting the area, etc…
  • Find relevant statistics, facts, and examples to support the facts presented.
Now, write your text: using the information you have gathered, write a 100- 120 words text that describes the community problem, its causes, its impact and existing solutions:
  • Start with a sentence that introduces the problem and sets the scene/ you can give an example.
  • In the next few sentences, describe the specific causes and effects of the problem on the community and its residents. Provide examples to support your description and make it more vivid.
  • Present the existing solutions and their impact on the problem (how have they worked so far?) and present an idea for an action you could take to solve the problem.
  • Finish with a sentence or two that summarizes the problem and its impact on the community and a call to action by stressing the importance of solving the problem.
Remember to keep your text concise and clear and check for grammar and spelling errors, and make sure your writing is easy to understand. Write the text on a copy of this TEMPLATE, add some illustrations (graphs, prints of news article’s headlines, statistics etc…) to your text, the references and the name of the team, school and teacher monitoring students’ work. STEP 2: Make a video to present your problem. Gather your DESCRIPTION (Google Slides) and your presentation video in a folder (with the name of school and country) and share the link to the folder HERE. After 10th, students will discuss together in International teams, possible actions they could organise and implement in their communities to solve/ mitigate the issue they are working on. A Forum thread will be created.

Each international team has an entry for their topic on the Twinspace Forum where they are asked to share their selected idea with the rest of the International team. Electronic devices addiction Bullying/Cyberbullying Lack of bike lanes (needs another team) Unsustainable food buying habits Food Waste Gender Inequality Lack of Clean Water Poverty Deforestation Air pollution (Needs another team) If they find any partners’ idea shared, they should comment on their idea, saying if they agree or would like to include another idea and they can add or suggest improvement to the proposed ideas as well.
