INDEX
There are a lot of sorts of natural disasters. They could be caused by moves in the Earth, strong winds, water, etc.
The natural disasters are pretty dangerous. The last year, 11.000 people died due to natural disasters.
A natural disaster is a phenomnea that is linked with natural hazard.
NATURAL DISASTERS.
The earthqakes are measured in the Richter Scale.
An earthquake is a phenomena caused by the movment of the tectonic plates. The earthquakes may cause enormous damage as well as deaths. They can fissure the earth causing huge cracks and sometimes even volcanos.
EARTHQUAKUES
The most dangerous and destructive tsunami was the 26th of December of 2004. It was caused by a 9.1 earthqake.
A tsunami is an enormus wave that is caused by an earthquake in the sea or ocean. It can cause a lot of destruction and deaths. The most afected zone in the Earth by tsunamis is Japan.
Tsunamis
A hurricane is a sort of tornado but formed with warm wind.
HURRICANES
A tornado is a column of wind wich moves in circles. It starts in the land and it doesn't move a lot but it's pretty dangerous. It has got a lot of power so it may be able to throw someone very high. It is formed by cold wind
TORNADOS
Here in Spain, there are lots of floods in The Balearic Islands. They've caused lots of damages and fortunatley not that much of deaths.
A flood is an overflow of water that submerges land which is usually dry. This can be caused by tsunamis or even the increase of the flow of a river.
FLOODS
An area where there are a lot of avalanches is the Himalayas due to all the snow.
The origin of an avalanche can be the rain, earthqakes or even that the sonw breaks.
An avalanche is a rapid flow of snow falling down from slope of a mountain or hill.
AVALANCHE
One of the cause of this is the climate change.
The droughts are very destructive to the life in the affected zone. It can cause the evaporation of water.
A drought is a period when the whether is drier than usual. It can last for a couple of days to even years.
DROUGHT
An eruption is the expell of the magma molten rocks along with gases and some other particles. This can be deadly because it intoxicates the air and the lava destroys everything in its way.
A volcano is a fissure in the earth that is conected to the resrves of magma.
VOLCANOS AND ERUPTIONS
Almost all of the impacts aren't dangerous at all, because the meteorites desintegrate thanks to friction, but when a large meteorite impacts the Earth, it can cause a masive damage like Armageddon, which was the meteorite killed the dinosaurs.
A meteorite is when an asteroid enters a planet's atmosfere, impacting a few moments later
An asteroid by itself its not a problem, the real problem is when it becomes a meteorite
Asteroid
It could be caused by a glass on dry grass, volcanos, cigarrets, campfires, etc.
The wlid fires have been increasing due to the climate change.
A wildire is a huge and destructive fire that burns all around itself and sends out an enormous amount of toxic smoke. It can cause lots of deaths and destruction
WILDFIRE
If you see a sign like this one, you should be very carefull because you are in a landslide zone.
A landslide is similar to an avalanche but with rocks, dirt and mud. It could be as destructive as an avalanche or even more due to the materials that fall down from de slope of the mountain.
LANDSLIDE
Also you must keep yourself calm because you should think your actions to be safe.
If it's an earthqake, move away the buildings, if it's an avalanche or a landslide protect yourself behind something. If it's a flood go to an elevated zone.
And remeber, if you're in a natural dissaster, you should go in the opossite way because the Nature won't asks if someone is getting harmed.
Thanks for your atention
