What is?
This contributes to the protection of the earth by absorbing much of the ultraviolet radiation that the sun produces.
Between 10 and 50 kilometers above the surface of the planet, in the stratosphere, is where the ozone layer, a layer of gas, can be found.
What is?
- chlorofluorocarbons.
- hydrochlorofluorocarbons.
- Halons.
- Hydrobromofluorocarbons.
- Bromochloromethane.
- Methylchloroform.
- Tetra chlorocarbon.
- bromomethyl methyl
What is it composed?
It is made up of ozone molecules, which are created by three oxygen atoms and this 8 substances:
- Human Health
- Marine life is affected
- Terrestrial ecosystems are affected
- Climate change
There are numerous reasons why the ozone layer's disappearance is a serious concern.
How does it affect us?
The atmospheric release of certain chemicals, known as chlorine and bromine compounds, is the primary cause of the ozone layer's depletion. These substances are known as halocarbons, which include, among others, halons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Ozone molecules in the stratosphere can be destroyed by chlorine and bromine compounds released from human activities, such as the manufacturing and use of industrial chemicals.
Why disappear?
How could we protect her?
Numerous actions have been taken internationally to preserve the ozone layer and stop its deterioration. The main steps taken to preserve the ozone layer are:. 1. Eliminate the production and consumption of ozone-harming materials. 2. The production, import, and use of chemical substances are regulated by national and international laws and restrictions. 3. Technologies that do not harm the ozone layer are being developed and adopted, and this is being referred to as the promotion of alternative technologies.
Current status
Info
Due to the protective measures put in place, the ozone layer has demonstrated encouraging trends in recent years. because fewer substances that damage the ozone layer are being produced and consumed. Even though there has been significant progress, it is crucial to remember that the ozone layer will take some time to fully recover and that protection and monitoring measures must be continued.
Thanks
