She was known for being the main promoter of women's suffrage in Spain.
She was a politician, lawyer, writer, jurist and suffragist.
She was of Spanish nationality
She was born on 12 Frebruary, 1888, in Madrid She died on 30 April, 1972, in Switzerland

Personal details:

Until 1931, Spanish women could be elected but did not have the right to vote. The lawyer and feminist activist Clara Campoamor put an end to this discrimination for the first time in history. She succeeded in getting the Republican Constitution of 1931 to recognise the right of all women to vote.

Why she was considered important?

In 1936 the Spanish Civil War broke out and Clara Campoamor went into exile in France. From Paris she wrote, The Spanish Revolution as seen by a Republican. Campoamor ended her days as a practising lawyer in Switzerland and died in 1972.

Clara Campoamor, one of the driving forces behind women's suffrage in Spain during the Second Republic (1931-1936).
Universal suffrage is a right of all citizens without exception, which means that all of them can elect the rulers of their territories without any discrimination that would revoke this right.
