Names of Allah

(At-tawab v.5)

Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim

- Ar-Rahim can either be alone or paired with Al-Aziz, Al Gafur etc- Allah opened the Mother of Quran, Fatiha with these 2 names. Guidance's slogan- Phrase against Satan, to chase him- Jibrail (as) would come reveal the verses with these 2 names as well

- Both meanings revoles around Mercy or Kindness. When mentionned together, they take a slightly different meaning,- Ar-Rahman has Mercy as attribute, while Ar-Rahim is the One who feels empathy for His servants. [Ahzab v.45] - Highlights His vast Mercy. What makes us happy or whatever evil is taken away from our life, is THANKS to Him and no one else

- His Mercy takes over His Anger. Even animals love and feel empathy for their kids- His Laws are filled with Mercy. Following them puts Mercy in our lives, and respecting prohibitions too- The closer to Allah the bigger the Mercy [Al An'am V.155]

Muslim 2752

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There are one hundred (parts of) mercy for Allah and He has sent down out of these one part of mercy upon the jinn and human beings and animals and the insects, and it is because of this (one part) that they love one another, show kindness to one another and even the beast treats its young one with affection, and Allah has reserved ninety nine parts of mercy with which He would treat His servants on the Day of Resurrection.

Al Bukhari 5999

Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: Some Sabi (i.e. war prisoners, children and woman only) were brought before the Prophet (ﷺ) and behold, a woman amongst them was milking her breasts to feed and whenever she found a child amongst the captives, she took it over her chest and nursed it (she had lost her child but later she found him) the Prophet said to us, "Do you think that this lady can throw her son in the fire?" We replied, "No, if she has the power not to throw it (in the fire)." The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, "Allah is more merciful to His slaves than this lady to her son."
